Good things come in 3's - NEW TransformEd Learning Sessions

Download the flyer in pdf here.

I recognize that you are all on summer vacation mode, and are probably trying desperately to hold onto every last moment before school starts...  That being said, perhaps, you might also be a little bit like me and are already starting to plan your learning environment, provocations, flow of the day, and professional learning for the Fall season. Therefore, I thought that I might intrigue you with a few learning opportunities that I am SUPER excited about!!!  It almost feels like months and even years in the making!!

They often say that "all good things come in threes," so here is what I am proposing to all of you:

1. TransformEd Workshop - Face2Face - Saturday, November 19th, 2016

2. NEW! E-Workshop series, Tea Talk Tuesdays - Online - August 16th and 23rd, 2016.

3. York University Kindergarten AQ course -Blended (Face2Face and Twitter) - September 27th until December 1st, 2016.

Have I piqued your interest?

Please continue to scroll and read through all of the details, including the titles, descriptions, and flyers if you are curious to find out more information!

As a new mama to a six month old, I have had to cancel or decline many presentation opportunities over the Winter, Spring and Summer months so that I could focus on my son and finish my PhD courses.  Now that we are in a routine, and I have successfully completed the first part of my graduate studies I would like to offer some sessions again.  Please note that I plan to be going back to a kindergarten homeroom classroom in February, and as such will be slowing down from these speaking engagements come 2017 while I adjust to full-time work and motherhood.

I would love to have you join me, especially since I cannot really predict when another chance for us to learn together might be!

For now this is about all that I can offer and handle...

  • Support with planning using the new Kindergarten Program Document (flow of the day, mini lessons, four frames, etc.)

NEW! E-Workshop series, Tea Talk Tuesdays  Inquiry-based learning as a process: How to plan for and sustain your project work

Fully Online - Using an interactive platform called Adobe Connect
Tuesday, August 16th, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. (2 hours)
Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. (2 hours)

Make a fresh pot of your favourite tea, grab your technology, and learn how to follow a child's interests and wonders, to spark an inquiry project in your classroom!  Within this online workshop series, participants will gain insights about the layers of inquiry-based learning, how to sustain project work, and plan their inquiry next steps with the help of pedagogical documentation. (Formerly a face-to-face Workshop)

What will you gain from this session?

  • Find out about the layers of inquiry based learning (image of the child, relationships, time, space, materials, listening, planning, documenting)
  • Learn how to begin and sustain your project work (emergent curriculum) and uncover curriculum expectations
  • Plan for inquiry next steps with the help of pedagogical documentation
  • Begin to balance workload and integrate learning
  • Gain knowledge from the comfort of your own home, office, or classroom using any computer, laptop, iPad, or smart phone device
  • Certificate for participation

I have used Adobe Connect as a graduate student at York University and also as a Teacher Librarian for Scholastic training.  At first I was at little hesitant, but absolutely loved the interactive experience!  Adobe connect allows you to feel like you are participating in a workshop, without having to physically be there!  In our private meeting room (registered participants only), you can see the powerpoint slides, hear the presenter talking, access any handouts, view video clips, ask questions or contribute to discussion either by typing in the chat forum or through your phone line.  If you have wanted to attend my workshop, and our distance has gotten in the way - now it doesn't have to!

Be one of the first to register for my online series, and receive a free copy of my TransformEd Tips and Tricks: Inquiry-Based Learning package.  (This is in addition to the handouts that are part of our learning together.)

The TransformEd E-Workshop series on Tuesday, August 16th, 2016 and Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. (4 hours) from the comfort of your own home costs $110.00 + HST.

An email will be sent to you confirming your registration from paypal and will attach your receipt.  If you do not receive this confirmation (sometimes there are glitches), please contact joannemariebabalis@gmail.com.  A second email will come your way leading up to the session with any updated information (how to login to adobe connect, etc.) and a receipt from TransformEd Consulting Services.

All sessions are non-refundable.  The online platform that I am using (Adobe Connect) requires an annual fee that is based on the number of participants that are confirmed.  Once you register, I will count on your attendance to run the E-Workhsop.  You may, however, give your spot to someone else and email me about the changes so that I may update my list.  Think of this like a ticket to a concert-once you register, your spot is confirmed.  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Over the past four years the blog received many emails requesting if I would ever consider offering online courses or workshops.  It seemed like a wonderful idea to try and connect educators from across our globe, however, I never quite imagined or even dreamed that we could find a platform to make this possible!  After a lot of research, planning, and now a similar need to be close to home, it CAN be a reality...

I hope that you will take this leap with me, so that I may continue to engage you with rich learning!  Whether it be through the York University Kindergarten courses, face-to-face workshop(s), or my online E-Series!

Thank you as always for continuing to read my blog and for supporting my professional learning sessions!

Without leaps of imagination,

or dreaming,

we lose the excitement of possibilities.

Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.
